Today, Gov. Reynolds announced she signed a new public health disaster proclamation in response to increasing COVID-19 cases over the last 14 days. On Thursday, the state reported a new record high in daily COVID-19 cases with 1,349 cases.  In light of this and the upcoming flu season, Reynolds said all bars, taverns, breweries and nightclubs will have to close in Black Hawk, Dallas, Johnson, Linn, Polk and Story counties. Restaurants that serve alcohol will be allowed to remain open, but must stop serving alcohol after 10 p.m
Reynolds called on all peace officers in the state to assist in the enforcement of these measures as well as those in proclamation governor signed last week including:
  • Requirement that Iowans hosting social gatherings of more than 10 people must ensure that those attending maintain 6 feet of social distancing
  • Consistent with the recommendations from IDPH and Iowa Board of Medicine, strongly encourages that all Iowans age 2 and older wear a mask or face covering when in public settings, especially when not possible to maintain 6 feet from others outside their households unless safe to do so or because of health or disability
All actions go into effect starting tonight at 5pm through September 20th.
