Governor Reynolds Relaxes Additional Restrictions

Today, Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency until June 25, 2020. As previously stated, bars, wineries, distilleries, and social clubs may reopen May 28th with the same public health measures as restaurants. In today’s proclamation, she has also allowed additional social gatherings and leisure activities to reopen beginning June 1st at reduced capacity with added distancing and hygiene measures. These include:
  • Outdoor performance venues
  • Casinos
  • Bowling alleys
  • Amusement parks
  • Skating rinks and skate parks
  • Outdoor playgrounds
Restrictions and guidelines for new openings:
  • Limited to 50% of venue capacity
  • Must maintain public health guidelines and social distancing policies
Additional practices, games, and competitions in youth and adult events such as baseball, softball, running, biking, tennis, and swimming are also permitted with social distancing and public health hygiene guidelines in place.
While businesses and entertainment may begin to reopen, Governor Reynolds encouraged proper social distancing techniques as well as limiting in-person interactions with vulnerable Iowans. Read the entire proclamation here.
